One Woman, One Acre

Business is slowly but surely taking shape.

Doing this as a one-woman show has been quite the learning experience. Before, I managed land that wasn’t mine—plots behind rented homes and a handful of containers when I first began. Now, years later, I’m finally putting those dreams into reality and building a true home for the business. It feels both slow and fast-moving all at the same time.

There have been so many legal steps, land surveys, utility assessments, trips for photos and measurements so plans can be drawn up, and endless calls and emails. A lot of behind-the-scenes work has been happening while I’ve still been packing and sending out orders from the online shops.

To say I feel completely blessed is an understatement. Every profit made goes right back into the land—land that will eventually serve the community and become a home for workshops and programs.

My very first program is launching soon: Wild Bloom’s Pick a Pot, Grow a Crop. I’ll set up two pickup locations—one closer to home and one on our future farm. I’ll be donating seeds and growing containers to anyone who wants to stop by and pick them up for free. It’s an amazing way to get to know my neighbors and connect with anyone interested in growing food, flowers, or volunteering. This is possible because of the generous support I’ve received for the farm vision. Amazing seed companies like Epic Gardening, Sow Right Seeds, and Johnny’s have donated seeds so far. With those donations, I can help produce fresh food and flowers, begin treating the land, and add cover crop this fall.

My next big projects are soil testing, clearing trash from the land, and launching the Pick a Pot, Grow a Crop seed-sharing program. I’d love to offer it twice—maybe once in fall and once in spring, or perhaps just in spring. But you heard it here first!

I love sharing these updates and showing the behind-the-scenes because these are real-life steps. Just a mom with a dream, moving at a relatable pace. No rush. No hidden funds. No unrealistic leaps. It’s important to show that you can build a garden, a dream, and a business through small, consistent moves. This has been nearly nine years in the making.
