It Doesn't Happen Over Night

This week I’m writing to myself more than anyone else. And that’s okay — sometimes we need the reminder.

As I move through waves of happiness, disappointment, and self-doubt, the same questions keep circling: Can I even do this? Will anything actually grow? In those moments I catch myself craving instant results, that quick fix I know isn’t real.

If the last nine years have taught me anything, it’s patience. Real growth — in the garden and in life — doesn’t happen overnight.

This month I had a few hard days where I stood in the garden, pulling weeds, feeding the soil, and planting more starts, quietly wondering if it was all going to amount to anything. Then my oldest daughter showed me a photo of my backyard from just two months ago — bare ground, my little tiller making rows, nothing but dirt and potential.

I barely recognized it.

In that moment, all the doubt melted. A quiet wave of hope washed over me — the kind I didn’t even know I was desperate for. I had to laugh at myself and say it again out loud: “It doesn’t happen overnight.”

This little backyard garden isn’t my final destination, but it’s exactly what I need right now. It keeps my hands in the soil, my skills sharp, and my heart connected to the work. It’s practice for the bigger dream — the land where I’ll grow a real farm, build community, and one day host events at The Wild Bloom Garden.

Right now, things are in motion. We’re looking at land, requesting surveys, researching history and permits. It finally feels like solid, tangible steps toward a dream I’ve carried for years.

And through all of it, I’m still packing orders — tallow balm, recipe books, and soap — and sending them out with gratitude. Every single purchase means more than you know. Your support is literally helping us turn this vision into our home and our future.

So if you’re in a season of waiting too, I see you. Keep showing up. Keep planting. The growth is happening, even when you can’t see it yet.

It doesn’t happen overnight… but it is happening.

Until Next Time,

Serena - The Wild Bloom Garden
